At our meeting today 12 of us really enjoyed a workshop with Trease Lane. Trease showed us how to create a 'moon' on our fabric using a variety of paints and then, very patiently, showed us how we could add various stitches to our picture to create a stunning effect. One of Trease's examples is pictured below. Their were lots of other members present, sewing their own projects and having a chat! Thanks once again to Ruth for providing a lovely cake which we could enjoy with our tea and coffees. We had some lovely work shown us during 'show and tell'. Bridget, Margaret, Lew and June had managed to finish their bags from last month's workshop. Gwynedd had attended a workshop with Richard Box and made a gorgeous machine embroidered picture, plus a lovely Paddington book cushion. Helen K showed us a lovely stars quilt and wall-hanging and Margaret had made a very striking quilt for a friend's 70th.

At February’s meeting we had 26 members attending. There were members stitching their own projects and others attending a workshop led by Jane Morgan. This was a great workshop where members made a bag. This bag was shopping size with applique on the front. Hopefully next month we will be able to see some of them completed.
Our next meeting is being held on the 23rd march and Trease Lane will be leading our next workshop. This involves painting and stitching , using decorative stitches on fabric. There were a few show and tell this month;- Tessellating stars - Cath Front and back of quilt - Alison Cushion cover - Liz It was lovely for us all to get together again. It seems ages since we last met, as our December meeting was at the beginning of the month.
Today some of us joined together for a machine applique, sit and sew block. This was an enjoyable session very clearly taught by Margaret. Other members got on with their own sewing projects. At our next meeting on February 24th we have Jane Morgan leading a workshop to make a shopping bag with applique. In March Trease Lane is leading a workshop for us. On Saturday 17th February 7 valley quilters have their exhibition of members work. This is from 09:30 - 16:00. There will also be fabrics and sewing items for sale , and refreshments available.
