Quilters are a very generous community and often make quilts to give to charity. We have several people within Gwent Quilters with links to various charities which accept quilts of various sizes and specifications. This page attempts to bring these details together so you can choose more easily the size and type of quilt you can make. (These are in no particular order and if anyone knows of any other charities, please let me know).
As a group we have decided to donate quilts and cushions to Cyfannol Women's Aid based in Newport and Blaenau Gwent. Cyfannol Women’s Aid supports individuals and families across Blaenau Gwent, Monmouthshire, Newport, Torfaen and the wider Gwent area, through refuge, outreach and community-based services.
The quilts and other items are aimed at providing comfort and to possibly hopefully brighten someone's day. Any size quilts and cushions are welcome.
Money raised from our charity quilt raffle will provide wadding and cushion inners for our items. Pictured below is our first donation to the organisation, June 2022

July 2023
July has been a busy month for many of our members at Gwent Quilters. Members have kindly contributed several quilts and 2 cushions to Women’s Aid. Several bags have also been made for the breast cancer unit at the royal Gwent hospital. Margaret and Louise kindly delivered the bags to the royal Gwent where they were great fully received. Members are continuing to make more bags and to make heart shape cushions to support the arm after having surgery for breast cancer. . . |
